Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the melting amt. of a wire and to improve welding speed by melting the wire by the positive polarity pulse current of which the peak value is below the transition current value and transferring globules at the reversed polarity pulse current above the transition current value.
CONSTITUTION: Welding pulse current is so set as to have the positive polarity pulse current part of which the peak value IP1 at which a wire 1 melts is below the transition current value and the reversed polarity pulse current part of which the peak value IP2 in succession to this is above the critical current value. Then, the quantity of heat input to the wire 1 increases in the part of the positive polarity in the first half of the pulse current and the wire 1 melts quickly. In the part of the reversed polarity in the second half, the molten part at the leading end of the wire 1 is finely grained, and transfers to base metals 3. Namely, the wire 1 is simply heated in the first half and the transfer to the base metals 3 occurs always in the reversed polarity part in the second half. Thereby, the spatters by short circuiting are reduced and the occurrence of undercut is prevented.
