Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture simple coated sand, by maintaining molten condition of phenol resin without cooling and solidifying after synthesizing the phenolic resin and by adding sand and stirring the resin and sand, when resin coated sand for shell molding is manufactured.
CONSTITUTION: A manufactory of resin coated sand for shell molding is built near a phenollic resin manufactory, and the phenollic resin manufactured at the manufactory is transported to the coated sand manufactory through a transporation pipe heated to an appropriate temperature, and the phenolic resin is mixed with silica sand and stirred by heating in a stirring tank, so that the silica sand is covered with the phenollic resin. The phenolic resin is also transported to the coated sand manufactory by another transporting means capable of holding the resin in liquid state by heating, and the resin is mixed and stirred witg the silica sand to manufacture the coated sand for shell molding. When these arrangement are applied, it is not necessary to melt a solid resin, and, therefore, the coated sand can be manufactured easily and economically.
