Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve remarkably a hardening rate of a casting mould by heating and hardening a sand mould drawn from a metal mould with microwave, after castng sands which contain water soluble paste as a binder are charged into a heated metal mould and the surface of the sand mould is hardened.
CONSTITUTION: Casting sands of which binder is water soluble paste, such as natural paste, compound paste, water resin emulsion and water soluble phenol resin, are charged into a heated metal mould. Thus, a sand mould is heated successively from the portion in contact with the metal mould and the mould surface is hardened, and, several ten seconds after charged into the metal mould, the sand mould can have an enough strength to draw out therefrom. When the sand mould drawn out from the metal mould is radiated with microwave, the nonhardened portion in the center thereof is heated rapidly and water is vapourized and released, so that the sand mould is dryed and hardened.
