Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately manufacture pistons with projection to be used for enclosed compressors without any afertreatment, by simultaneously forming the projected body and the main body of the piston by one time of working process by cold forging.
CONSTITUTION: After a blank material 10 formed to a discoidal shape is treated by annealing and lubricating, the material 10 is put in a piston forming chamber 4 of a die 3. Then, a plastic deformation is generated in the crude material 10 by advancing ynder pressure a pressure punch 7 by a pressing mechanism, and the circumferential wall section and the top wall section of the main body of piston 13 are formed. A part of the material 10 fills a projection forming chamber 6 made of a heat resisting plate 2, and a projected body 14 having a required dimension and shape is simultaneously formed. After the pressing is completed, the main body of the piston 13 provided with the projected body 14 through which the discharge port of the cylinder head is loosely fitted, on the top end surface with an eccentricity (l), is formed by cold forging. In this way, highly accurate products can be manufactured without requiring any aftertreatment, such as grinding, etc.
