Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the area of a driving transistor (TR) driving a step motor, by controlling the gate of the driving TR by the boosted voltage of an internal boosting circuit as a substitute for an external supply voltage. CONSTITUTION:A hybrid timepiece having the functions of both an analog and a digital timepiece has an area operating with an external supply voltage and that operating with the boosted voltage of an internal boosting circuit. An interface circuit 24 is provided behind the output control circuit 3 of the hybrid timepiece, and the gate of the driving TR of a driving circuit 4 for a step motor is controlled by boosted voltage of the internal boosting circuit 11. Therefore, the area of operating with boosted voltage is as shown by a broken line 25. Thus, the gate of the driving TR is controlled by the boosted voltage to decrease the amplification factor of the necessary TR, so the area of the driving TR is reduced. In addition, this method is not limited to the hybrid timepiece.
