Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve easy and high-precision centering by measuring the internal diameter position of one cylinder with a dial gauge set to the internal diameter of the other cylinder. CONSTITUTION:When the positioning pin 3 of the stand 4 of a centering device is brought into contact with the internal diameter of one of two cylinders 1 and 2 to be centered, e.g. cylinder 2, the radius-directional position of the centering device is determined unequivocally and a dial gauge 5 is set according to a scale which crresponds to the internal diameter position of the cylinder 1 at that time. Then the centering device is turned in the circumferential direction by 90 deg. and the scale on the dial gauge 5 is read. Thus, a shift in center poition is determined accurately by a difference from a scale value in setting, thereby achieving high-precision centering through simple operation.
