Abstract
PURPOSE: To form knotty hardened layers in the improvement of the ground by a method in which a cross arm nozzle extending from a grout injection rod toward the excavating direction of jet stream is provided and a grout is jetted under high pressure from the tip of the rod while regulating the lifting rate of the rod and the amount of the grout injected.
CONSTITUTION: A cross arm nozzle 3 is provided at an angle to an injection rod 1 to its tip, and a grout feed hose 6 is connected through a swivel 5 to the rear end of the rod 1. When the injection rod 1 is penetrated to a given depth into the ground and turned and lifted while jetting the grout from a nozzle 4 under high pressure, the grout is injected into and mixed with the soil in and around the turning locus of the nozzle 4 to construct a cylindrical hardened layer A. When the lifting rate of the rod is dropped and dense injection of the grout is made when the rod is lifted to a given position, the saturated grout goes toward the inside and outside of the hardened layer A to construct knotty hardened layer B.
