Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the pinch of a lockup clutch piston with a hub by connecting the piston through an elastic strap to a turbine runner side.
CONSTITUTION: Three rivet holes are opened equiangularly in the vicinity of the outer peripheral edge of a lockup clutch piston 26, and one ends of three band- shaped elastic straps 64 made of elastic material, e.g., thin spring steel or the like are secured from the opposite side of a clutch facing 27 to the respective holes with rivets 65 to extend in the string direction of the clutch 26. A drive plate 32 disposed at the turbine runner 12 side forming a torsional damper 31 has three projections 32b equiangularly radially outwardly, and the other ends of the straps 64 are secured via rivets 66 to the projections 32b respectively.
