Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance a damping effect for a movable body by a method wherein a conductor platr provided with a plurality of parallel slits is fitted to the movable body which performs a rectilinear motion, and the conductor plate is placed in a magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic field generator H is comprised of a bottom plate 12 and a top plate 13 which are made of ferromagnetic material and are rigidly connected to each other by connecting plates 14, 15 which are made of non-magnetic material. A plurality of permanent magnets M are arranged on the bottom plate 12 so as to exhibit a predetermined pole pattern and are rigidly fitted to the bottom plate 12, whereby a magnetic field is developed between the bottom plate 12 and the top plate 13 in the direction perpendicular to the both plates. The conductor plate D fitted to the movable body is maintained so that it plate surface approximately coincides with the X-Y plane orthogonal to the magnetic field being generated by the generator H in the direction of the Z-axis, and the conductor plate D is moved in the direction of the X-axis in the magnetic field when the movable body performs a rectilinear reciprocating motion.
