Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a high-quality reproduced signal having a reduced degree of level fluctuation, by recording a pattern recorded on a magnetic pattern by a voice head and a control head on a tape excluding its end parts. CONSTITUTION:A voice head 161 and a control head 162 are set with a distance A of the height direction secured between them. That is, the width of a magnetic tape is denoted as W, the track widths of heads 161 and 162 are denoted as TA and TC respectively, and a certain length is set as A=W-TA-TC-l. Then the position of height is controlled accurately by tape guide 17 directly attached to the voice/control heads 16 to shift the tape. As a result, both the voice and control tracks are formed at the positions apart from the tape ends by distances l1 and l2 (l1+l2=l) to exclude the tape end parts where both the magnetic and base surfaces are very coarse.
