Abstract

The rotary head video tape recorder has signals recorded as signal blocks along parallel oblique tape tracks and recorded and played back at a given rate, with a fixed tape transport velocity. The signal blocks can be scanned at different rates, which are fractions of the given rate, or intermittently, for either direction of movement of the tape. Pref. the video recorder has a first control for selecting the direction of tape transport, a second control for selecting the record or playback mode and a third control selecting the scanning rate or intermitten scanning.
