Abstract

PURPOSE:To use the crosstalk signal from adjacent tracks to perform tracking control easily for reproducing, by forming magnetization loci for recording so that guard band width of signal unrecorded parts may be different alternately. CONSTITUTION:Heads HA7 and HB7 having azimuth angles of directions opposite to each other are so arranged that respective mechanical height positions may be different relatively; and when magnetization loci TA7 and TB7 recorded for every one field by both heads alternately, loci on the magnetic tape are contact with each other in one side, and guard bands at a fixed interval are formed in the other side. When head HA7 reproduces and scans on this recording pattern with shift of the arrow 37 direction, the reproduced signal includes the video signal on-track T3 and the crosstalk signal from track T4. Consequently, if head HA7 is moved to the arrow 38 direction when a fixed level or more of the crosstalk color burst signal and so on are not detected, track T3 can be scanned under the state where the head extends over track T4 slightly by a fixed quantity.
