Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a tape format possible of high density recording, by recording a video signal on an n-channel magnetic track through n-division and recording an audio signal on the magnetic track of other one channel, allowing to record the video and audio signals on magnetic tape or the like efficiently. CONSTITUTION:A pair of heads of magnetic tracks in n+1 channels are constituted with video heads 18-20 having gaps g1-g3. Gaps g1, g2 having azimuth angle are formed between the heads 18 and 19, the track width of the heads 18, 19 is taken as TW0, the track width of the head 20 is taken as TW1 and loci 10-12 are formed with the heads 18-20. The heads 18, 19 have different azimuth angles, no azimuth angle is given to the gap g3 of the head 20, intervals Y, Z are given the heads 18, 19 and 19, 20 toward circumferential direction of a cylinder and the height is assumed to X, S. The track width of the heads 18, 19 is assumed to TW0 and that of the head 20 is assumed to TW1 and tape format for high density recording is obtained.
