Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure pre-injection at any occasion by a method wherein an inner wall of a nozzle where a throttle section is inserted is formed with a tapered surface and it is so constructed that a gap width increases with lift-up of a valve body.
CONSTITUTION: In a throttle type fuel injection valve, a valve body 2 is separated from a valve seat 1 via a seal section 3. When fuel is at high pressure, the valve body 2 lifts up, and a small amount of fuel as pre-injection is ejected from a ring- shaped gap 8 between a nozzle 6 and a throttle section 4 of the valve body 2. The inner wall of throttle 6 and the outer wall of throttle section 4 each form tapered surfaces 13 with the same tilt angle in respect to an axis line. Even in the event that a carbon layer 14 attaches on the inner and outer walls, fuel in a valve chamber 9 can eject even by a small amount from the increasing gap 8 with a slight lift, because the width of gap 8 increases with lift of valve body 2.
