Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the mechanical strength and wear resistance of a sintered Al- base bearing contg. oil by mixing powder of an Al-Si alloy as a base with powder of a eutectic Al-Cu-Mg alloy in a specified ratio and using the mixture as starting material for manufacturing the bearing.
CONSTITUTION: Powdered mixed starting material consisting of 3W15wt% powder of a eutectic Al-Cu-Mg alloy and the balance powder of an Al-Si alloy contg. 6W15wt% Si is put in a metallic mold and press-molded under 0.5W5.0t/cm2 molding pressure. This molding is then sintered at 510W610°C in the air to manufacture a tough bearing having superior wear resistance and a long endurance life. The oil- contg. pores of the bearing feeding oil are not collapsed during use.
