Abstract

PURPOSE: To crack heavy hydrocarbon oil to light oil with little production of gaseous hydrocarbons, suppressing substantially or completely the generation of hydrogen, by cracking the heavy oil in the pressure of a specific liquid metal at a specific high temperature.
CONSTITUTION: Heavy hydrocarbon oil is cracked to light oil in the presence of a liquid metal selected from Zn, Cd, Ga, In, Sn, Pb, Bi, and Te, undernormal pressure at 400W600°C. The cracking is carried out as follows: the heavy oil is dissolved in a solvent, introduced into the preheater 9 at a definite rate of feeding to preheat the dehydration carrier gas and the solution, and cracking in a reactor 14 under the above conditions. The oil obtained by the cracking and the gaseous 1W4C hydrocarbons are sent to the condenser 17 and cooled with the coagulation product collectors 22, 23 and 24, and the coagulation product is removed from the gaseous.
