Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect short circuits and the like of the display circuit readily without fail by applying discoloring and coloring signals on neighboring electrodes in an electrochromic display element by an external signal via an optional input terminal. CONSTITUTION:When a high level signal is applied to the optional input terminal 3 after the fabrication of the watch, an FF7 is set, and a high level preset output is applied through OR circuits in a gate group 8. The levels of driving lines 8a, 8c,... where inverters are provided become low, and the levels of the other lines 8b, 8d,... become high. Thus, the discoloring and coloring signals are alternately applied to every neighboring electrochromic display element via an electrochromic driving circuit 9. When the discoloring and coloring states in the responding electrocromic display device are observed, troubles such as leaks and short circuits, which are inevitably occurring between the neighboring electrodes can be readily detected without fail after the fabrication of the watch.
