Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase radiation sensing sensitivity in the case radioactivity of drainage from a nuclear power station and the like is monitored, by arranging a plurality of a radiation sensors in a plurality of stages around a drain pipe of a radiation measuring part. CONSTITUTION:The radioactive drainage flows through a baffle body 2 and a discharge nozzle 3 from the direction of an arrow 1. The water does not contact with the inner wall of a pipe 4 at the radiation measuring part when it flows. The radioactivity of the drainage 11 is measured by the radiation sensors 31 enclosed by a shielding body 30.The sensors 31 are arranged in a location so that collimators 32 do not face the discharge nozzle 3 where radioactive contamination is expected to exist. Scintillators 35 are arranged in a circular shape on the coaxial circumference of the drainage 11 in the sensors 1. Light screening films 37 are provided for the scintillators 35 in consideration of energy resolution. Photoelectric multiplier tubes 36 are connected to the scintillators 35. In this constitution, the radiation irradiated in the radial direction can be effectively sensed. Furthermore, if the sensors having the same configuration are arranged at the down stream, the sensitivity is further increased.
