Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled substance in high yield without producing by-products, by isomerizing a tertiary allyl alcohol using a catalyst obtained from vanadium pentoxide, a trialkylsilanol, etc., stable even under high-temperature conditions, lasting well the activity of the catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: In the presence of a compound shown by the formula I [L is hydrocarbon group; R is L or Si-(L)3; m is 1W3; n is 0W2, with the proviso that the sum of m and n is 3], e.g., tris-(trimethyl-silanoxy)-vanadium oxide as a catalyst, a tertiary allyl alcohol shown by the formula II (R1 is lower hydrocarbon group; R2 is hydrocarbon group or R1 and R2 form cyclic group; R3 is H or hydrocarbon group) is isomerized, to give a compound shown by the formula III. The reaction temperature is properly at from normal temperature to 300°C. In the conversion from the tertiary allyl alcohol, several hours heating after adding 0.005W20mol%, preferably 0.02W5mol% catalyst to the tertiary allyl alcohol provides effect better.
