Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep the fluid pressure of a booster constant even if a main pressure supply line becomes defective, by putting an auxiliary pressure feeder in operation when the fluid pressure in the booster supplied from a main pressure feeder has become lower than a set level.
CONSTITUTION: When an engine 14 is started by closing a main switch 13, negative pressure is supplied to the constant pressure chamber and varying pressure chamber of a booster 2. When a control valve is actuated by pressing a pedal 1 down, both said chambers are disconnected from each other and the atmospheric pressure is introduced into the varying pressure chamber to perform braking. When the frequency of use of the booster 2 has increased or the negative pressure in the constant pressure chamber of the booster 2 has become lower than a prescribed level due to the trouble of a negative pressure supply line from an intake manifold 6 or due to the like, a pressure detector 8 acts to drive an auxiliary pump 9 to intensify the negative pressure in the constant pressure chamber. When the negative pressure has exceeded a predetermined level, the pressure detector 8 acts to stop the pump 9. The negative pressure is thus kept constant.
