Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to operate the vertical type electrc rotary machine being provided with the direct water cooling thrust bearing device for the prescribed time without damaging the bearing even when water supply is suspended by a method wherein a water supply suspension relay is provided in the middle of the piping for cooling water of the direct water cooling thrust bearing device, and an oil film is made to be formed forcibly on the face of the bearing when water supply is suspended. CONSTITUTION:At the vertical type electric rotary machine being provided with the direct water cooling thrust bearing device, the water supply suspension relay 7 to detect suspension of cooling water supply is provided in the middle of a cooling water drain pipe 6 of a bearing pad 1. A pump 11 to be driven by a motor 12 is provided, and an oil 9 is enabled to be fed by this pump 11 from a discharge port 14 provided on the sliding face of the bearing pad 1. When water supply is suspended, a switch 15 is closed in accordance with the motion of the water supply suspension relay 7, and the pump 11 is made to act to form the oil film forcibly on the sliding face of the bearing pad 1. Accordingly the main machine can get along without making emergency stop even when water supply is suspended, and reliability can be enhanced.
