Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of broken fibers and deterioration in the strength of product fibers, by using a polyester consisting of a terephtalic acid component and a glycol component essentially and a specific spherulitic diameter in melt spinning the polyester at a high speed.
CONSTITUTION: A polyester is melt spun at a high taking off speed ≥2,000m/min. In the process, a polyester obtained by the ester interchange of a lower alkyl ester of a bifunctional carboxylic acid consisting of terephthalic acid essentially and a glycol consisiting of ethylene glycol essentially with a crystallization inhibitor, preferably sodium acetate, and the polycondensation of the resultant ester interchange reaction product is used as the polyester. The polyester has a spherulitic dismeter <20μm measured by a differential scanning calorimeter.
