Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst for steam reforming that has strength and stable over a long period by allowing activated alumina containing silica, alkali metals etc. to carry ruthenium.
CONSTITUTION: As composition of steam reforming catalyst for hydrocarbons, activated alumina containing 0.5W10wt% silica and ≤1wt% alkali metal and alkali earth metal calculated in terms of oxides is made to carry 0.05W20wt% ruthenium. This catalyst has strength, heat-resistanance, deposits little carbon and shows stable catalytic capacity over a long period.
