Abstract

PURPOSE: Waste gas is added with NH3 and aqueous H2O2 solution, then passed through catalytic layer to reduce NOx into N2 and H2O, whereby excess NH3 is oxidized and decomposed without reducing denitrization efficiency.
CONSTITUTION: NOx containing waste gas is added with NH3 and further with aqueous H2O2 solution in amount of greater than 0.5 molar ratio to effluent NH3, then cantacted with metal oxide based catalyst at temperature of below 450°C. In the process, NOx in the waste gas is decomposed and reduced N2 and H2O, and excess NH3 is decomposed to be harmless. NH3 is usually used 1.0 to 1.5 times of NOx. As metal oxide catalyst, substantially all oxides of metals such as Fe, Co, Ni, Ti, V, W can be used, simultaneously effecting dinitrization and decomposition of excess NH3.
