Abstract
PURPOSE: To condense the vapor of an easily polymerizable liquid by cooling while preventing the polymerization of the liquid by a method in which the easily polymerizable liquid is evaporated by heating from outside while stirring, and the vapor is directed to a condenser while being kept in overheated state and then passed on the liquid film of the condenser being wetted by circulation of the condensate.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid 12 to be distilled inside a distillation vessel 10 is evaporated by heating through heating jacked 11 while being stirred by a stirrer 19, where since the upper end 14 of the jacked 11 is positioned at a level higher than the surface 13 of the liquid, the vapor-liquid contact surface is kept at a mild temperature to prevent the polymerization of the liquid. Also, the condensation and polymerization of the liquid on the wall of the distillation vessel can be prevented because a heating jacket 16 is provided in the gas phase space above the evaporation surface 13. The overheated vapor is directed to a condenser 22 through a conduit 21 having the heating jacket 23, and the overheated vapor is condensed by cooling through a liquid film wetting the whole surface of the inner wall of the condensing tube of the condenser 22, where the liquid film is formed by spreading from the inlet of the condenser condensate 26 circulated from a receiving tank 27, while preventing the polymerization of the liquid. In general, the preferred boiling point of heating medium is ≤20°C the dew point of the vapor is preferred to be about +30°C.
