Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the constitution of a heat storage device as well as improve its thermal characteristics by a method in which an open surface is formed on part of a heat storage container to be housed with a heat medium in a heat storage tank, and a heat medium and a heat storage material, each having different specific gravities, are housed in such a way as to enable both to directly contact with each other inside the open surface.
CONSTITUTION: An open surface 51 is formed on part of a heat storage container 5 to be housed with a heat medium 4, e.g., water, air, etc., in a heat storage tank 3, and a heat storage material 6, e.g., a paraffin such as tetradecane, etc., or others, having a specific gravity smaller than that of the heat medium 4, is housed in the heat storage container 5. When the heat storage container 5 is provided in large numbers in the storage tank 3 by turning the open surface 51 downwards, the heat storage material 6 is naturally trapped inside the container 5. When, under the condition, heat is stored or released between the heat mediums 4 by utilizing the latent heat of the heat storage material 6, heat exchange is directly made between the heat medium 4 and the heat storage material 6 on the open surface 51 without the interposition of the wall of the container 5, and also the heat exchange characteristics can be raised because of the occurrence of flow and wave on the contact face between both.
