Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent deterioration of electrolyte and to improve workability of surface treatment by immersing a stainless steel on which prescribed film is formed previously in an aqueous solution of phosphoric acid then by carrying out cathodic electrolysis under prescribed condition using metallic molybdenum as an anode.
CONSTITUTION: A member of stainless steel on which BA film or passivated film is formed previously is immersed in an aqueous solution of 0.1W50wt% phosphoric acid. Then, said stainless steel is made an electrode of the cathod side, as the same time a member of metallic molybdenum is made an elelctrode of the anode side, thereby electrolytic treatment is carried out in the treating condition of 0.1W5A/dm2 of the current desity and 10W90°C of the electrolyte temperature. Owing to this method, the surface of steel turnes into having the superior corrosion resistance and, especially, the superior resistance to sulfurous acid, and at the same time, keeping the gloss finely. Further, the set up of the treatment is carried out simply and, at the same time, the deterioration of the electrolyte is prevented and the electrolyte is made usable extending a long period of time.
