Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium of a thin alloy plate providing high output and high-density recording by forming a ferromagnetic layer by diffusing prescribed atoms into the thin alloy plate. CONSTITUTION:On a long-sized thin plate of 100mum thickness consisting of 75wt% Cu and 25wt% Ni, Fe, etc., is vapor-deposited under high vacuum to form a uniform-quality layer of Fe, etc., to 3.5mum thickness and this layer is treated by cold-rolling in an atmosphere of hydrogen to about 3mum thickness. Further, it is hardened magnetically by aging in multistages in the atmosphere of hydrogen to form a hard ferromagnetic material layer to 100Angstrom -1mum thickness, thus obtaining a magnetic recording medium made of the thin alloy plate.
