Abstract
PURPOSE:To constitute a miniature, inexpensive device having large storage capacity by arraying (n) units of writing and reading heads on tracks 1-(n) in a tape width direction at bit intervals 1/(n-1). CONSTITUTION:At bit intervals 1/(n-1) on (n) tracks in a tape width direction, (n) units of magnetic heads constituting a writing head 4-1 and a reading head 4-2 corresponding to the tracks are arrayed successively. Data supplied to a writing circuit 8 is sent to a switching circuit 7 connected to the head 4-1 through a writing preamplifier 9. Data from the reading head 4-2, on the other hand, is sent from a switching circuit 12 to a reading circuit 13 through (n) units of skew buffers 11 connected to (n) units of reading preamplifiers 10, but information in the tape width direction is read simultaneously at bit intervals. Thus, a miniature, inexpensive magnetic tape device having large storage capacity is manufactured.
