Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase a transfer speed double or more by providing buffers corresponding to respective heads of a magnetic disk device having recording surfaces corresponding to heads and by performing continuous recording and reproduction on every recording surface by sector data.
CONSTITUTION: For recording surfaces 1a and 1b, magnetic heads 2 and 3, recording and reproducing circuits 4 and 5, buffer memories 14 and 14', etc., are provided. Serial data SD transferred are written on one surface 1a at clock period T0 via buffer memory 14. Simultaneously, they are read out of buffer 14 at period 2T0 and recorded. Then, as record B1 is transferred, it is written on the other surface 1b of magnetic disk 1 simultaneously. Further, the next record A2, when transferred, is recorded on recording surface 1a since the read of period 2T0 is completed. Thus, records A1, B1, A2, and B2 are recorded on recording surfaces 1a and 1b by turns continuously, so that the data transfer speed increases double or more.
