PURPOSE:To enhance storage stability of a recording material, by forming a base generating layer containing an amine Co (III) complex, a layer of a specified chelate to be coordinated by Co, an interlayer, and a color developing agent layer in this order on a support. CONSTITUTION:A basic material generating layer containing an amine Co (III) complex, a quinone for acting as an oxidizing agent upon visible rays irradiation, and a reductant for executing photoinitiated redox reaction with the quinone; a chelating agent layer coordinated by Co and forming a complex having low absorbance in the visible light wavelengths; an interlayer made of a water-soluble resin or an emulsion type resin; and a color developing layer containing aminotriarylmethane for developing color upon oxidation, an acid for promoting color development, and 3-hexaarylbiimidazole for oxidizing said aminotriarylmethane are successively formed on a support to prepare a recording material. Its storage stability is enhanced by adding the chelating agent not to the base generating layer but to the other layer, and a sharp image free of fog even long term storage is obtained.
