Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the production of coenzyme Q10 per mold and to reduce the amount of by-products of other coenyzme Q10 homologues, by cultivating a bacterium belonging to the genus "Paeudomonas", capable of producing coenzyme Q10 in a medium containing a specific aliphatic carboxylic acid.
CONSTITUTION: A bacterium belonging to the "Pseudomonas" capable of producing coenzyme Q10 is cultivated in a medium wherein 0.05W2% (w/v), preferably 0.1W0.5% (w/v) at least one aliphatic carboxylic acid having an oxo group, hydroxyl group, halogeno group, or amino group as a funtional substituent group only on the α-positioned carbon and 4W6 total carbon atom number, e.g., valine, leucine, isoleucine, methionine, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, etc. based on the culture solution is added preferably in the logarithmic propagation period of the bacterium, and coenzyme Q10 is collected from the formed mold.
