Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the erroneous operation of a semiconductor element by forming a layer made of radiation shielding material at least on the inner surface of a cover of a semiconductor device having a package body and the cover, thereby shielding the radiation incident to the element. CONSTITUTION:A radiation shielding material, e.g., lead, gold, etc. is plated on the inner surfaces 11 and 12 of the cover 7 and body 6 of a package. The lead to be plated should be preferably as pure as possible and as thick as possible, and at least 1mum of thickness is required. In this manner, the radiation can be shielded, thereby preventing the erroneous operation of the IC chip.
