Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a drawn wire of difficultly workable metal warrantable for homogeneity by drawing a difficultly workable metallic wire coated with lubricant with a die in which a cartridge heater is burried after heating the wire to a temperature that does not cause scattering of the lubricant.
CONSTITUTION: A difficultly workable metallic wire (for instance, W wire) 10 is pulled out from a supply reel 11 and fed to a coating section 15 through a tension reel 14, and coated with graphite as lubticant. The graphite-coated W wire 10 is fed to a heating furnace 17 kept at 400W700°C through a shielding plate 16. Then, the W wire 10 that passed through the furnace 17 is led to a block 20 provided with a die groove for pulling out and a die block 18 provided with a die cover 21. Then, the W wire is pulled out and drawn through a superhard die 22 provided in the groove 19. In this case, two rodlike cartridge heatees 25 are burried under the groove 19 allowing exchange and the temperature range of 250W400°C at the time of drawing can be controlled within temperature fluctuation of ±10°C.
