Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of red rust and to enhance the adhesiveness of polymer cement, by removing mill scale from the glassy surface of a steel structure, treating the mill scale-removed surface with a primary anticorrosive composition and then coating the treated surface with the polymer cement.
CONSTITUTION: After mill scale is removed from the glassy surface of a steel structure, a primary corrosion-inhibitor, e.g. a phosphoric, manganese phosphate, zinc phosphate or ferrous phosphate-type corrosion-inhibiting liquid, is applied onto the mill scale-removed glassy surface. The surface is then held as such 2hr or longer under an ordinary temperature atmosphere, and coated with a predetermined polymer cement mortar. The metal-coordination compound of phosphoric acid or the like with ethylenediamine tetracetic acid having ligands of 4W6 coordination numbers its salt or the like, dissolved in alcohol or water, may be used as the said corrosion-inhibitor.
