Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a wick having a good shape keeping property and to bring about a stabilized combustion condition by a method wherein a certain part of a stitched fabric made of heat resistant fibers is double-stitched in the form of a cord fabric without using wefts by use of a double Raschel warp loom and an inner wick is inserted into the double-stitched section to thereby manufacture the wick.
CONSTITUTION: The combustion wick 1 and a sucking with 2 are stitched by the double Raschel warp loom and a part of 5W20mm below the upper edge of the wick 1 is double-stitched to a predetermined width so that an inner wick insert section 3 is formed. The inner wick insert section 3 is stitched without using wefts so that the inner wick 4 made of a ceramic sheet or the like can be inserted during stitching of that section 3. After the formation of the inner wick insert section 3, the inner wick 4 is held stationary by machine-sewing and the stitched fabric is cut to a suitable width and is made cylindrical by stitching, to thereby manufacture the oil stove wick. For the inner wick 4, a material having a suitable oil absorbing powder is selected. Thus, due to the existence of the inner wick 4 of a high strength, the shape keeping property of the entire wick is improved and a stabilized combustion condition can be obtained. Furthermore, as the manufacturing method of the wick is simple, it is possible to reduce the manufacturing cost.
