Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce exhaust pressure and prevent excessive thermal stress, by determining the thermal stress of a rotor from the termperature of steam discharged at high pressure and from the heat transfer coefficient of the surface of the rotor and by adjusting the degree of opening of a low pressure by-pass valve depending on the determined thermal stress.
CONSTITUTION: In an embodiment for a medium-pressure-turbine-previous-starting-type thermal power plant comprising a high pressure turbine 6, a low pressure turbine 7 and an electricity generator 8 on a first shaft and a medium pressure turbine 13, a low pressure turbine 14 and an electricity generator 15 on a second shaft, the outputs of detectors 20, 21, 22 for the temperature, flow rate and pressure of the exhaust of the high pressure turbine 6 are applied to a calculator 23 which determines the heat transfer coefficient H of the surface of a rotor from the outputs. Another calculator 24 determines the thermal stress σS of the outside surface of the rotor and that σB of its inside surface from the heat transfer coefficient H and the temperature TEX of the steam exhaust. A low pressure by-pass valve 18 is controlled through maximum normalized stress calculator 25, a reheated steam pressure setting unit 26, etc. depending on the determined thermal stress values.
