Abstract

PURPOSE: Titled foam having activity and excellent adsorption rate and capacity, prepared by adding a specified compound to a polyurethane foam.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture containing an organic polyisocyanate compound, e.g., 2,4-tolylene diisocyanate, an organic compound, MW300W10,000, having at least two terminal active hydrogen atoms reactive with an isocyanato group, e.g., polyethylene oxide, a chain extender, e.g., ethylene glycol, and additives such as a blowing agent, a catalyst and a foam stabilizer, is mixed with 1W30wt% compound having at least one group selected from the group consisting of thiol, thiourea, dithiocarbamic acid group and dithiocarboxylic acid group, e.g., pentaerithritol. The resulting mixture is foamed in a conventional manner.
EFFECT: This foam can adsorb and remove heavy metals contained in waste water or gas rapidly and simply. In addition, the adsorbed metals can easily be recovered.
