Abstract

PURPOSE: To transmit desirable torque to an output shaft without transmitting torque fluctuations generated on a drive shaft so as to eliminate vibration and noise, by maintain a predetermined differential speed between the drive shaft and the output shaft.
CONSTITUTION: The mean revolutional speed Ne of the crank shaft 4 of an internal combustion engine 2 is detected by a detector 150. The mean revolutional speed Nt of the output shaft 12 of a torque transmitter is also detected. Under the control by a computer 134 the crank shaft 4 and the output shaft 12 are coupled together through a friction clutch 8 so as to rotate with a differential speed therebetween being equal to a set value Ns of differential speed in a predetermined operational range. When the differential speed is higher than Ns, large pulse current is applied to increase the coupling force of the friction clutch, while when the differential speed is lower than Ns the coupling force is decreased, thereby to perform feed-back control for maintaining the differential speed at the set value Ns of differential speed.
