Abstract

PURPOSE: To save an electric power consumption of an electrostatic precipitator as small as possible as suppressing a dust quantity, contained in exhaust gas to be exhausted into the atmosphere, lower than a given low level, by controlling an electric charging on said precipitator in order to keep a dust concentration of said gas at the exit part within a range of prescribed value.
CONSTITUTION: An exit dust-concentration meter 7 for an electrostatic precipitator is installed at the exit part of an electrostatic precipitator 4, and an output terminal of the meter 7 is connected to an efficiency-control device 8 for an electrostatic precipitator. Charging current of an electric supply unit for the precipitator 4 is controlled by a control signal of the device 8 in order to systematically perform the efficiency improvement and the energy saving of the precipitator. The dust concentration of the gas at the exit of the precipitator 4 can be kept at the prescribed value by controlling the charging current of the unit 9 installed at each section of the precipitator 4 respectively through a mini-computor 10 and micro-computor 11 from the meter 7.
