Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the defect or the end of lifetime of a magnetic medium, by opening and closing the output of a zero cross detecting circuit with the output of a circuit that detects that an input signal is higher than the reference level. CONSTITUTION:The output (b) of a preamplifying circuit 2 is compared with the reference voltage (a) of a reference voltage generating circuit 10 through a comparator 11. When the output (b) is higher than the voltage (a), a retrigger monostable multivibrator 12 is triggered. Thus the output of an OR circuit 13 is set at a high level, and the output of a zero cross detecting circuit 14 is sent to a data separator 5 through an AND circuit. When the level of the output (b) drops, the output of the vibrator 12 does not exist to eliminate the output of the AND circuit 14. Thus an error is detected after lapse of a certain time.
