Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to perform an automatic falling even in the case of a large- caliber pipe, by method wherein water is fed to a water tank through a water level detecting tube at the upstream of a dam, and a valve, which feeds and discharges fluid to and from a cover, is cuased to open and close through the change in a water level.
CONSTITUTION: A cover 1 for a rising and falling rubber dam is mounted at the bottom of a river across the river, and water is fed to the water tank 43 through a water level detecting tube 30 opening at the upstream of the dam below a water level whereat the movable dam self-falls. Compressed air is caused to work on a valve 6 at an exhaust pipe 42 through the working of a float 44 in the water tank. With the valve 6 released when a water level at the upstream of the dam reaches the self-falling water level, air in the cover 1 is released to cause falling of the dam resulting from the contraction.
