Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain sufficient antirust property and beautiful appearance by a method wherein a specific amount of SiF<2->, Zn<2+> are added to a CrO3- weak acid type chromate treating liquid with a specific composition to carry out surface treatment of a zinc plated steel plate. CONSTITUTION:A chromate treating liquid contains 18-30g/l total Cr, 35-60% of a total Cr content of Cr<3+>, 7-15g/l PO4<3->, 1-6g/l SiF<2->, 50-1,000mg/Zn<2+> and comprises the remainder of water. When a zinc plated steel plate is subjected to surface treatment by the resultant chromate treating liquid prepared by adding a specific amount of SiF<2->, Zn<2+> to a CrO3- weak acid type chromate liquid with a specific composition, coloring tendency is effectively controlled and sufficient antirust property and beautiful appearance are obtained.
