Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the adhesive property and destruction resistance of coating, by treating the surface of zinc or zinc-plated steel sheet with phosphate soln., to which is added a fixed amount of trivalent Cr ions, then by after-treatment of the material with chromate soln. CONSTITUTION:In surface-treatment of zinc or zinc-plated steel sheet in order to improve the corrosion resistance and the adhesive property of coating, the zinc plate etc. is treated with a phosphate soln., which contains 0.005-0.2g/l trivalent chromium ions in a ratio of between 1/500 and 1/50 of trivalent chromium ions to phosphoric acid ions, by immersion or spray process, in addn., the material is after-treated with a chromate soln. Zinc or zinc plated steel sheet hereby treated has corrosion resistance not lower than that of conventional products, and improved destruction resistance of the coating.
