Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce semi-steel or pig iron while conserving coke, by a method wherein solid iron oxide with a fluidizer, a neutral flux and a carbonaceous antitack agent added thereto is melted to be semi-reduced molten iron oxide, then a reducing agent is injected into the molten iron oxide and the gases generated are burned.
CONSTITUTION: Solid iron oxide, the fluidizer, the neutral flux and the antitack agent such as coke are fed into a furnace via a feed bell 5 and are packed in the furnace from the hearth 4 up to a charging line 6. Hot air is blown into the furnace through an annular pipe 8, a jetting pipe 10 an a tuyere 11, while a fuel is blown into the jetting pipe 10 or the tuyere 11 via a blow pipe 12 and is burned in the furnace, and the solid iron oxide is converted into the semi-reduced molten iron oxide. Since the bosh angle α of the vertical-type furnace is a steep downward gradient of 40W60 degrres, even stickly materials fall easily without occurrence of hanging. The molten iron oxide 16 is transferred into a reducing furnace via a taphole 13, and a reducing agent is blown into the iron oxide 16 in the reducing furnace through a lance 17 to reduce FeO. The generated gases consisting mainly of CO are burnted by air fed from an air blowing-in pipe 4 to raise the temperature in the furnace, whereby the molteb metal is heated and reduced.
