Abstract
PURPOSE:To contrive to reduce both the size and the cost of a printing head by a method wherein the tips of printing wires are shifted so as to enable a minute picture element to be formed with a small number of wire dot elements. CONSTITUTION:At the part of the tips of the printing wires 10 is provided with a printing wire receiver 11, which is connected to an armature 7 for shifting and is driven in a substantially vertical direction by a shifting magnet 6 and a spring 12. The printing wire receiver 11 is reciprocated in the manner of a piston at an inclination of an angle theta against the axis L of the alignment of 9 printing wires 10, and the wires 10 are driven at the instant when the wire receiver reaches the top position and at the instant when the receiver reaches the bottom position. It is necessary to provide the relation of theta=tan<-1>(b/a), where (a) is the pitch of actually mounted wires and (b) is the lateral pitch of printing dots.
