Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid consumption of magnetic particles and to make the improvement in the efficiency and the automation of magnetic-particle inspection possible by sealing inspecting liquid prepd. by suspending magnetic particles in kerosene or water into a flexible vessel, and pressing this onto a material to be examined thereby performing flaw detection. CONSTITUTION:A transparent flexible thin film 10A is provided on the inside surface side of a flexible belt 10, and a white flexible thin film 10B is provided on the outer side thereof. Inspecting liquid 11 prepd. by suspending magnetic particles in kerosene or water is sealed therebetween. If this belt 10 forming an endless track is placed on a material 1 to be examined and the material 1 is magnetized by wheellike magnetization electrodes 17, the magnetic particles in the liquid 11 are adsorbed to the leaking magnetic flux generated in defect parts and magnetic particle patterns are formed. Thereupon, the magnetic particle patterns are projected onto a monitor image receiver 24 by a television camera 23, and are recorded by a video tape recorder 25, whereby the presence or absence and shape of defects are detected. Thereby, the treating works such as spraying of magnetic particles, their recovery, and the like is eliminated, and the flaw detection work is executed automatically and continuously.
