Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an asymmetrical radial beam, by longitudinally connecting two polarized wave converters having a phase shift degree of nearly 90 deg. at the using frequency band to the input and output terminals of an oval open horn in an independently rotatable way. CONSTITUTION:Polarized wave converters 14 and 15 having a phase shift of nearly 90 deg. are connected to the input and output terminals of an oval open horn 10 via rotary flanges 11, 12, and 13. Then a round-rectangular converting waveguide 16 is connected to the other end of the flange 13. Thus an antenna 17 is formed. If the electric wave arriving at the I2 surface of the antenna 17 is a circular polarized wave, this wave is supplied to the converter 14 in the form of an oval polarized wave in general. The oval polarized wave is supplied to the converer 15 with variation of both the axis ratio and the angle of inclination of the oval polarized wave. The oval polarized wave is then converted into a linear polarized wave when the azimuth on the phase shift surface coincides with the long axis direction of the oval polarized wave. In case when the arrived electric wave is a linear polarized wave, the wave is also converted 14 into an oval polarized wave in general to be taken out of the waveguide 16.
