Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable measurement high in S/N and sensitivity by separating a vibration signal of a mold into an upper signal and a lower signal, and foreknowing the state of lubrication between the ingot and mold from the change of relation between the two signals.
CONSTITUTION: Vibration of a mold 2 is detected by a vibration detector 16, amplified by an amplifier 10 and inputted to a filter 11. Output of the filter 11 is inputted to a signal separator 12 and separated into an upper signal and a lower signal by a signal discriminating circuit. Separated upper and lower signals are inputted to an arithmetic device 13 through a smoothing circuit or envelope circuit. The ration of the two is calculated in the arithmetic device 13 and the result is inputted to a record indicator 14 and an alarm 15. The record indicator 14 records the degree of interrelation between the upper and lower signals of a selected frequency band. The change of signal indicates the state of lubrication between the mold 2 and ingot.
