Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent water paint from drying, in electrostatic coating using the water paint, by feeding a solvent, which can dissolve the resin component of the water paint, to the periphery of a rotary disc to wash it.
CONSTITUTION: Paint is fed from a paint-feed part 23 through a paint tube 36 to a paint-feed pipe 5. The paint continuously flows down little by little from an opening at the top end 5a of the pipe 5 onto the backside inner surface of the first cylinder 3. An air motor 19 is rotated by high pressure air fed through a tube 30 from an air-generating source 31, to rotate a rotary cyp 1 at a high spedd. The paint is fed to the frontside inner surface of the first cylinder 3, and then carried as a thin film toward the knife edge part 7 of a taper. A solvent, which can dissolve the resin component of the water paint, is continually sprayed onto the rotary cup 1 from its outside through a nozzle 37. Thus, troubles caused by drying of the water paint can be avoided.
